The warehouse handles a peak of approximately 900 boxes per hour. Under the original process, packages were stacked onto pallets on-site immediately after packing, causing forklifts to compete for space with pedestrians. The client requested that no columns be modified and that the epoxy flooring remain undamaged.
Based on the column grid, we designed three straight conveyor sections with two 90° turns. The diverting mechanism uses a barcode scanner and a pneumatic cylinder push rod. The motor is located on one side of the maintenance aisle to facilitate roller replacement.
Since the system went live, forklift operations in the packing area have decreased by about 40 percent, and loading times at the docks have become more predictable. Similar warehouses can start by providing column grid diagrams and container specifications.
