
Heat sinks are produced in small batches but undergo frequent model changes. The old machine tools lack probes, so each setup relies on a dial indicator. The customer wants to reduce the time spent on alignment by machinists.
The VMC-850 has been equipped with a spindle probe and a fourth axis, and the program uses variables based on the part family. We conducted test cuts on the customer’s raw materials in Guangzhou and provided both the tool list and the coolant plan.
One week after mass production began, setup time was reduced from 12 minutes to about 4 minutes, and the pass rate for spot checks of flatness increased from 91% to 98%.
